Floatation therapy or floating was initially researched in the late 60's by a Dr. Lily looking inot the effects of sensory deprevation. there has been lots of published work on these effects- we even have some of it in our reception area- but what it comes down to is an ultimate relaxation experience. once in the tank there are no distractions- you can choose to listen to soft, relaxing music or float in complete silence. this is your chance to have an hour (or more)
completely to yourself- no phone ringing, no kids, partners,or pets bugging you to be fed or fix something. Inside the float tank there is no light (although you can leave a light on if you wish), the water and air are heated to body temperature- so you lose any touch sesnstions, and the sound is insulated out ( again you can choose to listen to music or even a hypnosis CD). all you have to do is relax- some people like to sleep in the tank (don't worry it's safe), others will do some meditation and others like to think and process the days events.
Some fantastic resources for floating are the following web sites
FloatFinder - this site has a great map section detailing float centres around the world. Also a great resourse fr floating information.
Float for health - a great site detailing the history of floating, its benefits and uses, and frequently asked questions.
Session times are for the amount of time in the float tank. We allow up to an additional 30 minutes for your changing and showering and any explanations or preparations you may need.
